Matti's Sondheim and musical theatre blog

Let me quickly introduce myself and this blog...

My name is Matti Aijala and I am originally from Finland, but have been living and working in UK for the last twelve years or so. My main passion is theatre - musical theatre to be more precise and especially the works of Stephen Sondheim.

I have written three plays and translated a Finnish musical to English although sadly nothng much has happened to it since then. I also used to do a lot of acting back home and have always enjoed reviewing musicals and plays. I am a management team member at Sondheim Society and have had the pleasure and honour of meeting Mr Sondheim several times at talks and different events.

I have just finished wiriting material for the premiere production of Sondheim's A Little Night Music in Finland as the creative team at Turun Kaupunginteatteri commissioned me to write an article on the show and Sondhem for their programme. I have done similar thngs before and feel greatly honoured by this request.

In ths blog I am hoping to discuss all things Sondheim and musical theatre both over here in UK and of course from back home.
